2020 State Fact Sheets

The Institute for Safer Trucking (IST), a nonprofit committed to educating the public about trucking safety, recently released our state fact sheets for 2020, the most recent year of available data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS).

This year’s state fact sheets highlight:

  • Total truck crash fatalities in 2020,

  • Increases in truck crash fatalities from 2011 to 2020,

  • Percentage of work zone crashes involving at least one large truck in 2020,

  • Percentage of fatal truck crashes that occurred at night in 2020,

  • Percentage of fatal truck crashes that occurred on non-interstate in 2020, and

  • Map of fatal truck crashes in 2020.
