Institute for Safer Trucking Announces Dexter Culclager to the Board of Directors

Washington, D.C. – The Institute for Safer Trucking (IST) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dexter Culclager to its board of directors. As someone adversely impacted by a tragic truck crash that claimed the lives of his wife, Yakel (36), and their three children, Tra’Desia (17), Tre’Quis (18), and Tra’Veion (6), his experience will help us improve our outreach to others who have been adversely affected by a large truck crash. He has since become an advocate for collision avoidance systems, like Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), to prevent such incidents from happening to other families.

John Lannen, principal and co-founder of IST, said, "We are excited to have Dexter join our board of directors. His personal experience has given him a deep understanding of the impact of truck crashes on families and communities. His advocacy work for safer trucking solutions aligns perfectly with our mission to reduce truck crashes, injuries, and fatalities. Dexter’s personal journey and passion will be invaluable to IST as we continue to educate the public and work towards improving safety on our highways."

Dexter Culclager stated, "It is an honor to be appointed to the board of directors for the Institute for Safer Trucking. After experiencing the devastating loss of my family in a truck crash, I am dedicated to advocating for safer trucking and collision avoidance systems. I look forward to working with the team at IST to raise awareness and educate the public on the importance of safety improvements in the trucking industry. I also hope to create a stronger sense of community for people like me in Florida, who lost loved ones and/or survived a truck crash. Together, we can make a difference and save lives."
